We had a wonderful time at Meteor Crater. It's a little pricey but having a military discount helped defray the cost. The exhibit is very large and well done. There are two theatres showing different aspects of the crater. The movies were very enjoyable and quite entertaining. There are plenty of hands-on displays depicting how the crater was formed. We purchased lunch at the Blasted Bistro. The sandwiches were very large and came with your choice of chips. Both of our sandwiches were excellent. We took the guided tour of the crater. Michael was our guide. He was not only very informative but was also very funny and entertaining. The walk is about a mile long round trip. I was the oldest of the group and the slowest. He would stop the group until I could catch up. He was thoughtful and considerate so Michael...a huge THANK YOU! Read Less

Great landmark to stop and see for a few hours. The crater is really neat to see up close. Definitely feel very small standing next to it. They have plenty of information and short films to explain the history and the meteor hit. The staff were all kind and courteous as well. Nature has places where man seems small. One of the most known craters. Highly advising to visit as it teaches about Mother Nature and her artifacts. Read Less

We just spent a lovely morning at the Meteor Crater. It was very well organized, and enjoyable for children as well as adults. I was concerned that my still recovering sprained ankle would prevent me from getting a good view of the crater, but that was not the case at all. They offer several viewing locations all the way from indoor viewing, to stepping just outside, to a guided tour, and several viewing sites of varying distances, so it is absolutely accessible to all! In addition they have a pet Ramada offering a cooled area for your pets to stay while you are there. While I’m not exactly sure how it works, since we didn’t take our pets this time, I have often wished for such a service! I wish more tourist attractions offered this! In addition, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the crater was far more impressive than I expected! Well worth our time and money! Read Less

This place has been on my list for a while. The pictures don't do it justice. The immense feeling you get standing on the rim of the crater is just that, immense! Various binoculars are trained on different features within the crater. The observation platforms allow for a great photo op. Being a geologist, I really appreciated the signs pointing to the different strata (rock layers) also found in the Grand Canyon sequence. This is a must-go for any rock/space/meteor enthusiast. The short informative movie followed by the small group tour made the visit complete. The museum has interesting exhibits and expands on some of the information previously covered. All the staff we encountered were very nice and helpful. The snack bar, museum, theater, restroom, and all other common areas were clean and in good order. The scope of the site is hard to grasp; the crater is enormous! We're glad we made the trip, it was fascinating! Read Less
