Based on previous reviews I read, I was contemplating whether or not it would be worth the trip and cost to see “a really big hole” however I’m so glad I decided to ignore those reviews and make the visit. The crater itself is much larger than you could even anticipate. Also, there are several view points that have multiple telescopes for your viewing pleasure to really see some interesting points within the crater. I was pleasantly surprised to find that cost includes much more than just general admission. You can visit the discovery center and space museum, enjoy a simulation 4D ride, watch a historical video in the movie theater, and go on a guided rim tour. While I had initially expected to be there 30 minutes tops, I spent 2.5 hours there and could have easily spent more time there. I highly recommend that you take the guided tour. Not only will you learn fun facts from Jeff who is an incredibly knowledgeable guide that has worked at the Meteor Crater for years. It is also important to note that going on the guided rim tour is the only way you can access certain view points from the other side of the crater. The guided rim tour is about a 1 mile trek round trip, however it is on a paved path, and allots time for picture taking. If you’re a planner, you can always call ahead to find out what times the tours are being held the day of your visit to make the most of your time there, as the whole tour takes about 45 minutes. It is definitely worth the time. Read Less

We had a wonderful time at Meteor Crater. It's a little pricey but having a military discount helped defray the cost. The exhibit is very large and well done. There are two theatres showing different aspects of the crater. The movies were very enjoyable and quite entertaining. There are plenty of hands-on displays depicting how the crater was formed. We purchased lunch at the Blasted Bistro. The sandwiches were very large and came with your choice of chips. Both of our sandwiches were excellent. We took the guided tour of the crater. Michael was our guide. He was not only very informative but was also very funny and entertaining. The walk is about a mile long round trip. I was the oldest of the group and the slowest. He would stop the group until I could catch up. He was thoughtful and considerate so Michael...a huge THANK YOU! Read Less

Great landmark to stop and see for a few hours. The crater is really neat to see up close. Definitely feel very small standing next to it. They have plenty of information and short films to explain the history and the meteor hit. The staff were all kind and courteous as well. Nature has places where man seems small. One of the most known craters. Highly advising to visit as it teaches about Mother Nature and her artifacts. Read Less

We decided to stop by on our way to Flagstaff and I really wish we would have gone earlier in the day! We figured we would look at the hole and it'd be cool and we'd leave.... 45 min would be plenty of time.. We have 3 kids (17, 15 and 7) and did NOT expect them to be so mesmerized by everything there. The tickets you buy are good for 2 weeks so we may have to go back on the way out. It was pretty incredible to see and the telescopes they have set up REALLY puts it in perspective of how huge it is! They have a museum that's interactive and a theater. There are several observation decks and even not doing a guided tour there was someone on the lower deck telling us all about it. So awesome. 10/10 recommend seeing this!!!! Read Less
